- Story Text: INTRO: Dutch fans were out celebrating in and around Birmingham on Thursday night (June 13), following their side's 2-0 win over Switzerland at Villa Park in Group A of Euro 96.
-------------------------------------------------------------------- They had plenty to celebrate. It was the Netherlands first goals of the tournament and the win puts them close to qualifying for the quarter-finals. The Netherlands head the group and now head for Wembley to meet England next Tuesday (June 18) evening.
In Nottingham, Turkey play Portugal in Group D on Friday (June 14) afternoon needing to avoid defeat to stay in the competition.
Thousands of Turkish fans have travelled from all over the world to watch their side compete in a major football tournament for the first time in more than four decades.
