- Story Text: North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) jets launched more air strikes on targets around Sarajevo on Thursday (September 7).
Three massive explosions were felt in the city shortly after NATO jets were seen flying overhead.
The targets were apparently the Lukavica military complex and an unknown location over the hills around Sarajevo.
Sarajevans welcomed the air strikes - one man said they were a gift from God.
In Paris on Thursday, foreign ministers of the Contact Group of major powers trying to end the war in former Yugoslavia met Islamic states to discuss peace prospects on the eve of face-to-face talks between the warring states in Geneva.
The ministers from the five-nation Contact Group -- the United States, Russia, France, Britain and Germany -- plus Italy, Spain and Canada, met their counterparts from eight member nations of the Islamic Conference Organisation (ICO) -- Egypt, Turkey, Senegal, Malaysia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Morocco -- plus Bosnian Foreign Minister Muhamed Sacirbey.
Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Velayati, whose hardline Islamic government has been one of the Bosnian Moslems most outspoken backers, told reporters he was very satisfied that the Contact Group was consulting Moslem countries on Bosnia.
"This cooperation between the two contact groups will be beneficial for the Bosnian people and for peace in the region," he said after meeting French Foreign Minister Herve de Charette.
