- Story Text: Life in Baghdad continues after another night under
attack.
The low volume of traffic on the streets of Baghdad
moves freely in the Iraqi capital after a fierce bombardment
overnight caused further damage in the city.
The streets slowly filled with people on Monday (March 31)
after the explosions in the night.
People ventured out from their homes and shelters to buy
food, others began clearing the rubble.
A series of major explosions reverberated through the city
early in the morning, igniting an inferno in the Iraqi
ministry of information.
Streaks of anti-aircraft tracer fire lit up the sky as
heavy bombing shook the capital just after 5.15am local time
(2.15am GMT).
Allied bombs apparently also tore into a palace belonging
to Saddam Hussein's son Qusay, for a second time according to
news agency reports.
The early-morning explosion was thought to have erupted in
the press centre of the ministry of Information, which has
been used in recent days by the world's media.
