- Story Text: Some of Israel's leading designers marked the unique wedding date, 09/09/09, with unique wedding gowns made out of toilet paper.
Using roles of Israel's 'Lili' toilet paper, Israeli wedding gown designers created unique looking colourful wedding gowns.
On the once in a lifetime date September 9, 2009, Shalmor public relations firm said in a press release, the number of wedding ceremonies increased by 200 percent.
Why toilet paper? Israeli stylist Dorin Atias says it is way out of the toilet paper company's realm, that's why.
"Toilet paper is material that can be most easily ripped and goes down with water and never returns. The idea that Lili wanted to purvey is to do something that takes us to a place that they are totally not...and we thought about fashion and in the summer a lot of people get married and organizing designers, one day after another lead us to this date 09/09 when there will be a sea of weddings," said Israeli stylist, Dorin Atias.
To beach comers surprise, about half a dozen women models and one man showed off the new styles on Tel Aviv's beach promenade. Some wearing hats and others carrying umbrellas protecting them from the beaming sun rays, Atias said the event is "very exciting...that's what we live for..art. So, it is literally for art". - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
