- Story Text: Heavy rain did not keep Formula One fans from camping
outside the Hockenheim race track on Saturday (July 29)
anxiously awaiting Sunday's German Grand Prix.
A torrential downpour on Friday (July 28) brought chaos
shortly after the end of Saturday's practice, forcing
organisers to postpone Formula 3000 qualifying.
Tens of thousands of fans raced for cover, tyres were seen
floating outside the teams garages and the official news
conference had to be cancelled because of the deafening noise
made by heavy rain falling on the press tent.
A strong smell of sewage was sensed in the circuits
high-tech digital television centre.
One fan, appearing slightly intoxicated, claimed that
Schumi (Michael Schumacher) will be number one tomorrow and
that's why this weather can't ruin the good mood.
