- Story Text: Even as tensions rise between Argentina and the UK over the Falkland Islands, Argentine President Cristina Fernandez hosted British musician Roger Waters at the presidential palace on Tuesday (March 6).
Waters, a founding member of Pink Floyd, is in Argentina to perform a series of concerts in River Plate stadium.
The reason for the meeting was unclear, but Waters made headlines recently by saying he thought the Falklands "should be Argentine".
After an outcry though, he softened his statement, saying he had been misquoted by the Argentine media. He later said there is not "a definitive solution" and that the conflict should be resolved "peacefully".
Members of human rights organisations sat in on Tuesday's meeting between Waters and Fernandez.
Tati de Almeyda of the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo Founding Line said that Waters and his wife "were charming" and that he did not bring up the issue of the Falklands. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
