- Story Text: Argentine President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner met with Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff on Thursday (April 25) to discuss a wide range of bi-lateral issues between the two South American countries.
The meeting was held in private and press access was restricted.
Local media report that the two were expected to discuss the sagging demand for Argentina cars in Brazil, which has been held partly to blame for a fall in Argentine industrial production in 2012, as well as a host of other strategic and political issues between the two countries.
On the Argentine side, the meeting was also attended by Mercedes Marco del Pont, the President of the Central Bank of Argentina, Secretary of Energy Daniel Cameron, Secretary of Mining Jorge Mayoral, and the Secretary of Foreign Trade, Beatriz Paglieri.
The Brazilian delegation included Foreign Minister Antonio Patriota, the Petrobras President Graca Foster, Minister of Development, Industry and External Market Fernando Pimentel, and the Secretary of External Commerce Elena Chagas.
Rousseff and Fernandez usually meet every three months, but were forced to cancel their last round of talks due to the death of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.
