- Story Text: The Dalai Lama, who is the supreme head of Tibetan Buddhism, arrived in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Sunday (April 30, 2006) after a two-day visit to Brazil where he unveiled a monument in honour of Mahatma Gandhi in Sao Paulo.
The Dalai Lama will hold four conferences while in Argentina with some 20,000 people expected to attend. There are more than 10,000 Argentines who practice Buddhism. During a news conference, the Dalai Lama avoided questions regarding China.
"I think, sorry, I think your question is too long and too complicated. No sufficient time to answer for that," the Dalai Lama said, cutting off a reporter in the middle of the question.
The Dalai Lama kicked off his five-country South America tour in Brazil's financial city, Sao Paulo. His Holiness is scheduled to give a series of teachings and speeches in Chile, Peru and Colombia.
Before travelling to Brazil, the Dalai Lama underwent a successful medical checkup in the United States. Argentina is the next stop in His Holiness's South American tour. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
