- Story Text: As the death toll of the Love Parade stampede last weekend rose to 20, residents of the German city of Duisburg are still in mourning and shock three days after the tragedy.
While clean-up work continued at the closed-off site of the techno music festival, the sea of flowers and candles grows with each day.
Crying mourners hugged each other or simply watched in silence.
A photograph of a young man in his early twenties read "Sven - we can not put it into words how much we miss you already. You will remain in our hearts. We love you!"
One passerby, who did not want to give his name said "it's a huge catastrophe. I have no words."
"For the people coming here to see where it happened, it's incomprehensible."
Referring to the young techno music fans who lost their lives, the man said "they wanted paradise and went to hell."
Eight foreigners -- from Spain, Bosnia, the Netherlands, Australia, Italy and China -- were among those killed when young people pushed through an underpass into the techno festival grounds at a former freight rail yard. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
