- Story Text: China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi met Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas Ramallah on Wednesday (December 18) in West Bank city of Ramallah.
Wang, who arrived to region on Tuesday (December 17) for a three days visit, met Abbas in his headquarters in Ramallah just after he visited the Church of Nativity.
According to Palestinian WAFA news agency, the minister's visit is to celebrate 25 years of establishment of Palestinian-Chinese relationship.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas visited China on last May.
The Chinese foreign visit comes a week after U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry visited the region and said that Israelis and Palestinians remained committed to peace talks and were on course to wrap up a full deal by April.
Kerry said the two sides were discussing a framework for a final-status accord to resolve the core issues at the heart of the decades-old conflict.
Later today, Wang will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem, and on Thursday (December 19) he will meet his Israeli counterpart Avigdor Lieberman and Israeli President Shimon Peres. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
