- Story Text: Britain's opposition Labour party leader Ed Miliband held talks with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in the West Bank City of Ramallah on Saturday (April 12) at the end of his three day visit to the region.
On Friday (April 11) Miliband met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
During his trip to the Middle East Miliband has said that he is a supporter of "the homeland for the Jewish people" but criticised the growth of Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank.
The Labour leader's trip follows on from British Prime Minister David Cameron's visit to the region last month.
Peace talks, aimed at creating a Palestinian state and ending a decades-long conflict, have stalled over the issue of Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, and the Palestinian's refusal to formally recognise Israel as a Jewish state. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
