- Story Text: There was a festive air in Bethlehem's Manger Square
as pilgrims and workers prepared for a historic mass to be
celebrated by Pope John Paul 11.
Manger square was bathed in heavy security on Wednesday
(March 22)morning.As the sun rose on the Church of the
Nativity, one of Christendom's holiest sites, soldiers mingled
with the workers putting up yellow ribbons and hanging flags.
But not everyone is excited at the prospect of the Pope's
visit.
"I don't think that as a Palestinian citizen this visit
will give me any of my rights," said Sahi Sand, from the
Dheisheh refugee camp that the pope will later visit.
