- Story Text: Celebrities who walked the red carpet at the "Secretariat" premiere in Hollywood on Thursday (September 30, 2010) shared their thoughts about the late actor Tony Curtis.
Jon Voight described Curtis as a man of many talents.
"He was a lot of things. He was a very good dramatic actor. And then he was a surprisingly good comedian. And, mimic. You know, he used to imitate Cary Grant, who he adored, you know. And he was a big heartthrob. When I was a little kid, he was--he had a big chunk of black hair, you know. And he was a cutie pie, you know. But he also was very, very talented. And then, toward the end of his life, he did a lot of painting, and made his way that way. He was always an interesting and fascinating kind of character who had a lot of ways to reinvent himself to keep going."
James Cromwell smiled while talking about the laughter Curtis inspired.
"In terms of his contribution, he was an extraordinary comedian. And, very gifted and a lot of fun, and a handful. And delightful. And his daughter, too. So, he will be sorely missed."
John Malkovich said he admired his work in front of the camera.
"Well, he was a terrific actor, and did a lot of fantastic work."
And Diane Lane expressed a sentiment many were feeling upon learning of Curtis' death
"Tony Curtis will live in our hearts forever. So, thank you."
Curtis died of a heart attack on Wednesday (September 29, 2010) night at his home near Las Vegas, Nevada. He was 85.
Curtis was one of the biggest box-office stars of the 1950s. The handsome leading man starred in more than 140 films including the classic gladiator drama "Spartacus," and he received an Oscar nomination for the 1958 movie "The Defiant Ones." - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
