- Story Text: Fans of computer games got a first glimpse of the annual Games Convention fair on Wednesday (August 20), one day before the world's latest digital innovations were going to be displayed at Europe's largest such event.
According to organisers, 547 exhibitors will be represented, a nine percent increase over last year of participating companies.
Dubbed "the biggest gaming event of the year," visitors will get an opportunity to test first-hand what computer companies have invented since the last fair in 2007 in order to keep fans glued to their screens.
At this year's Games Convention, 32 countries including the United States, Russia and several European countries are represented, organisers said.
So called "gamers" can test the toys in the various exhibition halls which have been separated into different areas to focus on software entertainment, consoles and hardware innovations.
One youth told Reuters Television he was here "to discover new games" while another gamer said it was her second time at the Leipzig fair and that one reason for returning was that the Games Convention might move to a different location next year.
According to the fair's manager, fair officials and representatives for the Games Convention intend to announce on Sunday (August 24) where the 2009 event will take place. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
