- Story Text: INTRO: French fashion designer Claude Montana's 1998 Autumn/Winter men's collection has been marked by wild red and orange patterns in silk, velvet and mohair.
The fashion show was held in Paris on Friday (January 23).
Montana's clothes were reminiscent of the 1960s, with broad striped suits in red and orange and orange plaid ensembles. The suits were mostly made of wool, accentuated by silk or velour shirts in the same bold colours.
They featured four-button coats over six-button vests. Neckties were out, replaced by thick scarves wrapped tightly around the neck.
A vivid blue suit was evocative of what Montana called "Harlem chic".
Another outfit featured an opaque lace shirt under a black velvet suit, which Montana said were inspired by the 1001 Nights.
He added that he designed clothes that he himself would like to wear.
