- Story Text: The black boxes from the doomed flights that crashed
over southern Germany have arrived in Braunschweig for
investigation.
The recorders, or black boxes, a total of four with one
voice and one flight recorder per plane, have arrived at
Germany's accident investigation authority on Wednesday (July
3, 2002) afternoon.
Two boxes from each flight have been carried by
investigator into the building of the crash investigators.
They will be opened on Thursday (July 4).
A Bashkirian Airlines Tupolev 154 and a DHL Boeing 757
collided on Monday (July 1) over Germany, killing 71 people.
Swiss air traffic controllers said on Wednesday (July 3)
their automatic collision warning system had been switched off
for maintenance when the two jets slammed into each other.
