- Story Text: INTRO: A Normandy town has been playing host to some of the world's finest magicians, for a dazzling festival of mystery and illusion.
-------------------------------------------------------------------- It's a perfect setting in which to be enchanted by the wonders of magic... The picturesque town of Forges-les- Eaux in Normandy is hosting the 10th International Festival of Magicians.
For nine days, the Normandy town is dazzled by tricks, stunts, illusions and sleight-of-hand. From the town casino, to the markets, to nursing homes, magicians are there to make people experience the impossible.
Organiser and magician Hughes Prostat says magic as an art dates back 4,000 years.
"It's a living art. It's the reason the festival exists. There are very few events like this so it's necessary to unite the magicians to show the public it's a living art and there are a lot of things to show," he says.
This year, 21 internationally acclaimed magicians are on the billboard.
"For me the festival is out on its own. It's really unique. I don't know of any other festvial like this. It's really very good for the image of magic," says British comic magician Ali Bongo.
For American Norm Neilson, who thrills his audience with a floating violin, a good magician is "one who produces illusions that are entertaining for the public." He says every audience is different which explains why there are so many magicians and different styles.
