- Story Text: Wine is the latest product to be given the World Cup treatment with just over a week to go before the soccer finals kick off in France.Bottles of wine bearing the tournament logo are now on sale in supermarkets and duty-free stores.
The range of products and souvenirs being brought out specifically for the World Cup is staggering. So it was perhaps no surprise that in France of all places wine would also make an appearance stamped with a World Cup '98 logo.
A bottling company, Chais de France, at Landiras near Bordeaux obtained the exclusive rights and are now hoping to reap the rewards from thirsty soccer fans.
Familiar names like Bordeaux, Cotes du Rhone and Corbieres could all bear the logo. And a bottle won't cost a fortune.
Most will sell for around 30 French francs, although the company is also providing some more upmarket wines.
