- Story Text: The U.S. military have held a ceremony in Baghdad to
honour wounded and killed Iraqi policemen.
A decorating ceremony to honour tens of Iraqi
policemen, some of them wounded or killed in action, was
held at the Convention center in Baghdad on Wednesday
(October 29).
Decorations were handed out to policemen or their
relatives by Gen. Myers, commander of the U.S army 1st
division and Iraqi Police Chief and Deputy Prime Minister
Ahmed Kazem Ibrahim.
"Today we will recognise the officers who have
sacrificed their lives, suffered great bodily harm or
demonstrated acts of heroism in the line of duty," Myres
said.
The ceremony took place two days after three suicide
bombs targeted iraqi police stations in Baghdad killing at
least eight policemen. A fourth bomb, on the same day,
target the ICRC building in Baghdad.
Following the ceremony Deputy Prime Minister Ibrahim
told journalists the attacks were an act of terrorism.
