- Story Text: Werder Bremen and Inter Milan prepare for their
Champions League clash.
While Werder Bremen has said ahead of the Champions
League encounter with Inter Milan that the game was
"extremely important" to them, the Italians made clear they
did not travel to northern Germany "for a holiday".
The one vacant spot in Group G will be taken by Werder
Bremen if they become the first team to beat Inter Milan,
who have already qualified. But if Werder lose and Valencia
beat already-eliminated Anderlecht, the outcome of the
Valencia-Werder match in Spain on December 7 will decide
who qualifies.
"We will do our best tomorrow and approach the game
aggressively because we remember the first leg and how
aggressively the Italians played," German champion's Werder Bremen's
Mi
roslav Klose told a news conference in Bremen on
Tuesday (November 23).
Bremens coach Thomas Schaaf said he was aware that
Inter Milan will not "approach this game very casually or
take it lightly. I think they will concentrate very hard
and try to keep their position."
Thirty minutes later, Inter Milan coach Roberto Mancini
confirmed just that.
"We have come here not for a holiday but to win the
game and to strengthen our position."
At the same time, Mancini flattered his hosts, saying
that "Werder Bremen is a very good team which we already
noticed in Milan. Even if they lost some Bundesliga games
here they have achieved other victories which showed that
its a superb team."
Wednesday's game at Bremens Weser stadium begins at
1945gmt.
