- Story Text: Iraqi authorities said that dozens of Iraqis mostly
civilians including children where killed in the town of
Hilla, 100 kilometres (60 miles) south-west of Baghdad, during
allied bombing of the town.
Many Iraqis including children were wounded on Monday
(March 31) during heavy fighting between the Iraqi forces and
U.S led allied troops near the town, Iraqi authorities said.
Heavy fighting took place on Monday between Iraqi forces
and allied troops near the town as they tried to get to the
Iraqi capital, Baghdad.
Hilla is located on the main road between the southern
town of Najaf and Baghdad.
Iraqi authorities accused U.S and British troops of
bombing civilian areas in the town.
