French centrist presidential candidate Emmanuel Macron was greeted by supporters after he cast his vote in the first round of the presidential election in Le Touquet, France where his family home is, on Sunday (April 23).
Most polls see centrist Macron and far-right leader Marine Le Pen qualifying on Sunday for a May 7 runoff, but conservative Francois Fillon and leftist Jean-Luc Melenchon are not far behind and within the margin of error.
Adding uncertainty to France's most unpredictable election in decades, pollsters say they might not be able to give precise estimates of the outcome at 8 p.m. (1800 GMT) as usual, because small and medium-sized polling stations will be open one hour longer than in past elections. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
