- Story Text: "Notting Hill", the follow-up to the most successful British film of all time, "Four Weddings and a Funeral", received its World Charity Premiere last night in Leicester Square, attended by its stars, Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts.
Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts attended the World Charity Premiere of their latest film, "Notting Hill" at The Odeon, Leicester Square on Tuesday (April 27).A huge crowd gathered outside to catch a glimpse of the two stars, and of course, to see what Hugh's girlfriend, Elizabeth Hurley, would be wearing.
In aid of Comic Relief and the Notting Hill Housing Trust, stars from the world of film, television and music gathered to watch this romantic comedy, written by "Four Weddings and a Funeral" writer, Richard Curtis.
The film stars Hugh Grant as William Thacker, a divorced owner of a London bookshop, sharing his house with a Welshman called Spike who is not renowned for his cleanliness.
William leads a very simple life until Anna Scott (Julia Roberts), the world's most famous actress, walks into his quiet, little shop and kisses him. From then on, nothing will ever be simple again.
Shot entirely in London, "Notting Hill" will do battle at the box office with this summer's most anticipated film, "Star Wars", but that doesn't worry the cast and crew one bit.
Produced by the same team as "Four Weddings and a Funeral", Curtis came up with the idea for the film whilst shooting "Four Weddings".He knew immediately that Hugh Grant had to be the lead and he was delighted when his first choice leading lady agreed to play the part.
Supported by a very strong cast, including Rhys Ifans (Twin Town), Emma Chambers (The Vicar of Dibley), Tim McInnerny (Blackadder) and Gina McKee, this film also features a soundtrack by such renowned artists as Boyzone, Another Level, Elvis Costello and Shania Twain.
"Notting Hill" opens nationwide in UK cinemas on May 28. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
