- Story Text: Canadian alternative rock group, Barenaked Ladies have just released their eleventh studio album, and the first since the departure of of lead vocalist Steven Page. Called "All in Good Time," the album marks a new chapter in the lives of the now four-member band.
"It was a totally different energy," said lead singer Ed Robertson about working without Page, who left to pursue a solo career. "I think change is good in any environment and in a creative environment it's vital and the four of us really responded to this creative change and the way it kind of opened things up for all of us."
The first single off the album, called "You Run Away," is a balled, a tune that may catch hard-core Barenaked fans off guard. It's a different direction than their more popular and up-tempo, pop tunes, like hit "One Week," but drummer Tyler Stewart said it was time for the band to stretch their legs.
"In some ways, there was a lot to prove, and in other ways what we had to do was make sure that we were creatively satisfied and that we were enjoying ourselves. That really left an open playing field this time around," said Stewart.
The group will now set out on a spring North American tour, to launch on April 06, followed by a more extensive summer tour. Robertson said that fans can expect a variety of music spanning their two decades together. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
