- Story Text: Teen singing sensation Justin Bieber admitted to kissing British singer Cheryl Cole, he told reporters at a news conference on Wednesday (February 16) for new film "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never".
The U.S. singer met the X Factor judge and tabloid favourite of the British press at the Brits awards on Tuesday (February 15) where he took home the gong for International Breakthrough Act, but she lost out for British Female Solo Artist to indie singer Laura Marling.
"We didn't really chat. I just gave her a kiss. I got right to business," Bieber joked with reporters.
The movie follows the singer's rise from musical toddler to global phenomenon - with the help of the internet and social networking.
Bieber has achieved global success in just two years. Since he was discovered in 2008 he's released two albums, "My World" and "My World 2.0". Both went platinum in the U.S.
Bieber's film is directed by U.S. filmmaker Jon Chu, who is best known for his work on "Step Up 2: The Streets" and "Step Up 3D". Chu was signed on to the project after "An Inconvenient Truth" director, Davis Guggenheim, dropped out of the film.
"I knew that the story was amazing in itself, cause I grew up in the Silicon Valley with technology, and I saw sort of Justin's rise on YouTube. I was doing a couple of YouTube videos. So I knew the story was fascination about a new generation of kids that could be empowered by technology, not by a big corporation, not by a whole, but chosen by the people themselves. So even just the idea of that sort of telling that story that wasn't possible five years ago, I thought was fascinating."
At the news conference, the teenage singer was asked how his inevitable voice change would hurt his music.
"Cause like everybody's voice changes. So it's not like ... it's not like it's abnormal. There's a lot of singers you know have gone through the vocal change, like Usher and Justin Timberlake and Michael Jackson, Boyz II Men. So, it hasn't been an issue for me. If you watch, if you've seen my movie, you've seen that my voice has continued to drop and it will, and it's gonna, you know, get deeper and deeper. So I'm not really worried," he said.
Bieber next takes the film to Paris with the movie opening in British cinemas on Friday (February 18). - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
