- Story Text: A handful of the most popular Hollywood celebrities walked the blue carpet ahead of the 37th Annual People's Choice Awards held on Wednesday (January 5, 2011) evening in Los Angeles.
The pre-show festivities unfolded under a clear sky and bright lights in front of the Nokia Theatre at the L.A. Live entertainment complex in Downtown L.A.
The biggest names of the night skipped posing for photos and talking to reporters outside the venue.
But several of the other nominees made time for the media, including Neil Patrick Harris of "How I Met Your Mother" and actor Jerry O' Connell, who was on hand to be an awards presenter. Harris was nominated for "Favorite TV Comedy Actor" and his show was nominated for "Favorite TV Comedy."
Comedienne Kathy Griffin shared why she thought her show "My Life on the D-List" deserved to get its "Guilty Pleasure" nomination.
"You should have guilt when you're watching me and laughing. Or, I want you to have a little guilt. Really, my whole gig is shrouded in guilt and shame."
The sharp-tongued Griffin later lost to the Kardashian sisters.
Swedish-Canadian actress Malin Akerman, and American actors Shane West, and sisters AJ and Aly Michalka also hit the blue carpet to chat with the media and pose for the cameras.
"The Shield" star Michael Chiklis was straight to the point about why he thinks fans continue to support his show.
"It maintained its integrity I think. You know, that's what we tried to do. Yeah."
Canadian actor Cory Monteith of the hit television series "Glee" noted why he thinks people love the show so much.
"I don't know. It's-- I think music is highly relatable."
Meanwhile, actress Vanessa Williams talked about a cause close to her heart.
"It's fantastic to be able to give back. But it's also great to see a worldwide movement. Every time I go overseas, I usually get in contact with a Special Olympics program there. And it's an amazing worldwide movement."
The Special Olympics was again selected to be the official charity of the 37th Annual People's Choice Awards. The organization has been supported by the People's Choice Awards for more than 30 years. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
