- Story Text: He Zi and Wu Minixa won the women's synchronised 3-metre springboard on Saturday (February 25) to complete a clean sweep of the six gold medals for China at the FINA Diving World Cup.
Competing at the London 2012 Aquatics Centre, He and Wu scored a total 345.30 points to finish ahead of Canada's Jennifer Abel and Emilie Heymans (321.90 points). The Italians Tania Cagnotto and Francesca Dallape (317.40 points) claimed the bronze medal.
The United States' duo Kelci Bryant and Abby Johnston got 315.00 points which was enough for fourth place while the Ukrainians Olena Fedorova and Anna Pusmenska came fifth with a score of 314.70.
China had already won the men's 10m platform, the women's 10m platform, the men's 3m springboard, the women's 3m springboard and the men's 3m synchronised springboard events. China also won the Best Overall Team award, the Best Male Team award and the Best Female Team award.
It is a repeat of the 2011 Diving World Championships in Shanghai where China also won every gold medal and has reinforced China's status as the dominant force in diving.
With little under five months until the Olympics they are the favourites to complete yet another clean sweep.
China's Olympic 10m synchronised champion Lin Yue said the team can still improve but they are pleased with the progress they have made at this week's Diving World Cup.
"Everyone (on the China team) wants to get the medal but everyone has their own specialism," Lin said. "We all want to do our best because then the whole team will do better.
"This is a very important step for us in our preparations for the Olympics and you can tell from the results at this World Cup that we are making progress in are preparations for the Games."
