Somali Islamist group al Shabaab has claimed responsibility for a suspected suicide car bomb attack in Mogadishu that killed at least three people on Saturday (October 1).
Police said a vehicle rammed the Blue Sky restaurant in the capital, which is located near a detention centre, known as Jilaow, where militants are often held in underground cells.
Residents said the restaurant is frequented by members of the security forces.
Speaking before the city's local government confirmed the death told had risen to three, a police spokesman said two people had been killed.
"A suicide attack happened in front of Blue Sky bar and two people died and more others wounded and investigations have been launched," police spokesman Abdikadir Hussein said.
