- Story Text: Germany presented its logo for the Euro 2020 on Thursday (October 27) in Munich, one of the 13 cities that will play host to matches at UEFA EURO 2020 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the championship.
The different 13 city logos feature a single iconic bridge from each city which act as a symbol of connection between the various venues.
President of the German Football Association Reinhard Grindel and UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin unveiled the German logo, which represents Munich's Maximilian bridge.
Grindel said Munich was the perfect host for a sports event like the EURO 2020.
"We have many stadiums that hardly need to be modernized or rehabilitated. We have good infrastructure, from public transport to airports. We have hotel capacity. The fact that the European Soccer Championship has become such a big event gives our candidacy a good chance to show that we can cope with this organisation, and that we have the right infrastructure to allow both economically favourable and environmentally friendly games are possible here," he said.
The other 12 cities are Baku, Rome, Saint Petersburg, Amsterdam, Bilbao, Brussels, Bucharest, Budapest, Copenhagen, Dublin, Glasgow and London, which will host the final.
Ceferin said he hoped the division would bring a "positive mix of cultures".
"We hope and we think it will work. It will be in 13 cities and different cities, small countries, big countries, medium size countries, different mentalities. We are expecting some positive mix of cultures," he said.
"As the General Secretary said before, we expect an excellent organisation which was almost or always the case in Germany, so we are not afraid that something will go wrong here," he added.
Munich has previously hosted several major events including the 1972 Summer Olympics, matches at the 1974 soccer World Cup - including the final - and in the 2006 World Cup.
