This is extraordinary. We are looking forward to it, because we have experienced it last year, at home and away and we have felt the reactions and what it triggers in our fans and also in us, this jubilation after the final whistle, this is so emotional, you don't get this as a spectator, you only get this when you are very close down there with them." TUCHEL SEEN IN VIEWFINDER OF CAMERA NEWS CONFERENCE (SOUNDBITE) (German) TUCHEL SAYING: "I value the team as very firm, a real man's team with currently three defence players and a seamless transition from a defending to an attacking formation. So their individual qualities will be very important, they can be quite emotional, but also play very hard and physical and they are being asked to adopt this and show the needed punch and at the same time come up with solutions in order to keep Schalke busy, with the defence able to push through our game in the end." We are as electrified as the fans by the derby. The team is keen, we are in good shape, I think. We have taken five wins and a draw from the last six games. We have a positive series and we would like to defend it and we go to Dortmund with all we have in order score points and in the best case win the game there." Every player knows the rivalry, even if he is with Schalke for a short while, he notices what it means to the people. It's about three extremely important points in this game. I think everyone understands this, everyone knows that it is about giving everything. This is the duty and then we will see who will be the better one." - Story Text:Borussia Dortmund and Schalke 04 meet in the Ruhr derby on Saturday (October 29), which Borussia coach Thomas Tuchel describes as the "derby of all derbies in Germany".
Borussia Dortmund hosts the match between the two rivals, which are only around 30 kilometres apart.
"I think this is the derby of all derbies in Germany and I feel this as a great honour to be part of it, having such an impact and being able to witness it closely. This is extraordinary. We are looking forward to it, because we have experienced it last year, at home and away and we have felt the reactions and what it triggers in our fans and also in us, this jubilation after the final whistle, this is so emotional, you don't get this as a spectator, you only get this when you are very close down there with them," Tuchel told a news conference on Friday.
Schalke 04 coach Markus Weinzierl stressed the importance of the derby for the two Bundesliga clubs.
"I think that every player knows, what this is about. Every player knows the rivalry, even if he is with Schalke for a short while, he notices what it means to the people. It's about three extremely important points in this game. I think everyone understands this, everyone knows that it is about giving everything. This is the duty and then we see who will be the better one," Weinzierl said.
Borussia Dortmund's top striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, is doubtful for the derby on Saturday after picking up a minor injury in their German Cup win against Union Berlin.
The Gabon international, who has scored seven league goals, did not train on Thursday and Tuchel said the knock on his calf was painful.
Tuchel, who will also likely be without Portuguese Raphael Guerreiro, said winger Andre Schuerrle, recovered from his injury, could be in the squad against their rivals after having trained with the team the past two days.
Dortmund have slipped down the table to sixth place after failing to win any of their past three league games. They are on 14 points, six off leaders Bayern Munich.
Schalke are 14th in the Bundesliga, with just seven points, but their fans remained confident. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
