With Pep we passed the ball more and had more possession of the ball. Now if we get to the front we look for the cross or the last pass. - Story Text:Bayern Munich coach Carlo Ancelotti said on Tuesday (September 27) that it won't be easy for his side to claim the three points at Atletico Madrid's Vicente Calderon stadium on Wednesday (September 28).
His perfect start with Bayern will be put to the test against the Champions League runners-up in a re-run of last season's scintillating semi-final tie.
The Bundesliga leaders have won eight games out of eight under the Italian coach in all competitions, with five league victories accompanying glory in the German Super Cup and an easy win in the German Cup.
Bayern thrashed Rostov 5-0 in their Champions League Group D opener but Ancelotti warned they will come under much greater scrutiny against Atletico, who have conceded two goals in seven games in all competitions.
"It is always difficult to play against Atletico Madrid. They are a very well organised team. We are going through a good moment and tomorrow we have to put on display a good performance," said Ancelotti.
Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone is known for his energy while directing his team from the touch line.
Asked about his counterpart, Ancelotti said he would like to live some matches the way the Argentinean does.
"He is a good friend of mine. A very good coach, one of the best at the moment. I also like his style, the way he lives the matches. I think he gets more tired now than when he was a player. I would also like to be able to live the matches as he does from time to time," the Italian said.
Atletico knocked Bayern out of the competition last season on away goals in a thrilling two-legged tie.
The Germans look to clinch a better result this season but Philipp Lahm said the team is not looking for revenge.
"Of course we have last season's game in mind but I don't want to use the word revenge. It is not the right word. Tomorrow is another game and we want to win and claim the three points. That is our duty for tomorrow," he said.
Atletico overcame 10-man Deportivo La Coruna 1-0 on Sunday (September 25) but their fourth straight win in all competitions was soured by a serious knee injury to midfield anchor Augusto Fernandez, who has been ruled out for seven months.
Atletico defender Jose Gimenez is also unavailable with a calf problem while Bayern will be without Holger Badstuber and Douglas Costa through injury. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
