- Story Text: The young pregnant wife of Belgian cyclist Wouter Weylandt visited the body of her husband in a morgue in northern Italy on Tuesday (May 10) after he died in a terrible accident in the third stage of the Giro d'Italia.
Ann Sophie Weylandt, who is due to give birth in September, waited outside the morgue for several minutes with a friend before finding the courage to enter the building for a final glimpse of her husband.
The cyclist's father, mother and sister also entered along with a team member moments before.
Riders observed a minute's silence before the fourth stage of the Giro began on Tuesday and a military band played the Last Post, in tribute to the cyclist.
The eight remaining members of Weylandt's Leopard-Trek team and the leaders of the Giro's four classifications lined up together before the start prior to moving off. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
