- Story Text: Shi'ite Moslems in southern Iraq fear they will be executed when United States (US) troops leave the occupied areas bordering Kuwait.
North of the US-controlled zone, Shi'ite rebels vowed to continue fighting Saddam, with or without US support, after the defeat of an uprising by Iraqi Kurdish rebels in the north and Shi'ite Moslems in the south. But many fear the departure of the US troops.
Thousands of Iraqi Shi'ites marched through Safwan refugee camp on Sunday (April 7) carrying the bodies of a woman and child killed when a cluster bomb exploded. The protesters chanted "Death to Saddam". - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
