- Story Text: U.S. forces in Mosul held a ceremony to mark the handover of authority from the 101st Airborne Division to the Multi-National Brigade North.
The ceremony to hand over authority from the 101st Airborne Division to the Multi-National Brigade North was held on Thursday (February 5) at the 101st Airborne Division's main headquarters in Mosul, northern Iraq.
The commanding officer of United States troops in Iraq, Lieutenant General Ricardo Sanchez praised the work of the 101st Airborne Division in "bringing together progress and unity to the north (of Iraq)."
Major General David H. Petraeus, commander of the 101st Airborne Division and Brigadier General Carter F. Ham, the deputy commander of the 1st Corps, were present at the handover ceremony.
The 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) is formed of three brigades and Division Artillery, Division Support Command, the 101st Aviation Brigade, 159th Aviation Brigade, 101st Corps Support Group and several separate commands, according to a statement released by U.S. forces in Iraq. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
