- Story Text: Portuguese designer Fatima Lopes and Belgian designer Dirk Bikkembergs have presented two of the sexiest, liveliest fashion shows on this autumn/winter ready to wear season in Paris.
Fatima Lopes' autumn/winter 2003/2004 collection, presented in Paris on Wednesday (March 12) was as sexy, original and impressive as all of Lopes' work.
In her unique way, Portuguese designer Fatima Lopes mixes fantasy with technology to create a world where her breathtaking models move around like fairies in a transgenic enchanted forest.
Prints in the form of roots, warm colors inspired in the shades of the Earth and soft, hightech fabrics, all seem to come together to create a feminine silhouette that conceals little of its charms.
"At a time like this, when all we talk about is war and misery and horrible things, I wanted to do exactly the opposite, to enter a magic world, a world of fantasy and to turn woman into a fairy, very sexy and very elegant," she said.
For Belgian designer Dirk Bikkemberg, this season should evolve further the crossover of fashion and sport. No longer mere grafting of activewear codes and items into the sphere of women's clothing, this time his show displays a phase in the metamorphosis process giving rise to a new world.
Bikkembergs' world draws from sport body consciousness, shapes and sense of energy, and from fashion a tradition of materials and decor flair. His is a culture of asymmetry and motion in clothes that reflect the natural volumes of a healthy, athletic female form. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
