- Story Text: With the World Cup just weeks away, Germany has been in soccer-fever for months now - everyone and everything is getting involved. And some are thinking up quirky ideas to score with the soccer fans - such as the Prisma Hotel in Nuemuenster.
They have designed a special room for soccer fans, which contains everything that could make a fan's heart beat faster. There is a soccer-pitch-style bed cover, a soccer-style chair and footrest, soccer posters on the walls and flags on the roof.
Soccer fans can sit on the soccer chair and watch the soccer DVDs provided in Dolby-Surround-Sound. And when they are tired of watching all the soccer videos, they can rest in the soccer pitch bed and listen to soccer chants on CD. Next to the bed the hotel have replaced the usual bible with the soccer prayer.
The Hotel Director says the room is proving a hit with fans. Burghard Wesselmann says they have a regular guest who is a referee in the regional league, and who, when he heard their was a fan room, was eager to book it.
"I know that he watched the soccer DVD the whole night, judging from the amount of beer he drank it must have been the whole night, so it must have been an eventful night for him here in the Prisma Hotel," Wesselmann told Reuters TV. "He bought every fan item which we have on offer, and I think that is a good sign that it will be successful."
One of the guests who was staying in the room was also watching the DVDs and thought the idea was fitting for the mood in Germany at the moment.
"I think that the design is a bit eccentric, but if you have the World Cup in your own country, then it is nice to find such hotels which are geared up to cater for the World Cup. I think it is a good idea, that is why I would stay in such rooms," he said. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
