- Story Text: Pakistan said on Tuesday (April 25) it would do "all we can on the issue of non-proliferation and that's in our own interest."
However, Foreign Minister Khursheed Kasuri told reporters after a meeting with his German counterpart in Berlin that "we cannot be a partner and a target at the same time," referring to Pakistan's neighbour India, adding "we feel very strongly about this."
Kasuri made clear his country was "not against the supply of or against the agreement between India and the United States on civil nuclear energy."
"Our demands are equally great. We don't have a population of a billion. We have a population of 162 million," Kasuri said.
India and the United States signed an agreement in March under which the U.S. will provide nuclear technology to India to generate energy. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
