We were amazed by how these kids were enthusiastic about doing more on this. Later on we liked this idea and we discovered that maybe we have to build some tools that make this process easier for them. The kid can build his project, and our software can track this progress and give him the right feedback at the right time." - Story Text: The World Economic Forum held in Jordan finished on Sunday (May 21) with a panel discussion on the importance of innovation and technology for the region's youth.
World leaders including King Abdullah of Jordan and King Felipe of Spain were joined by more than 1,100 people from the region's top businessmen and policymakers for the forum.
During the closing session, panellists discussed the highlights of the forum, which operated under the theme "Enabling a Generational Transformation".
Syrian entrepreneur Sana Hawasly talked about her startup, Daraty, which is a hardware toolkit that teaches children the principles of electronics without the need of expert supervision.
"We are trying to make the kid a lifelong learner by providing the kids with the right tools that give them the opportunity to have this educational experience with high ceilings and wide walls. So there will be no restrictions around this educational experience," she said.
The toolkit is also connected to a mobile app that includes kid-friendly scientific content and informative quizzes.
Lebanese Minister of Health, Ghassan Hasbani, said such innovations give hope to young generations in the region.
"Hope manifests itself by showing them examples, although they may not be big examples, or consistent examples, but showing them examples of success, showing them that we are taking action to create the right environment for the young population of this region," he said.
