- Story Text: Israelis and Palestinians on Sunday (May 21) made last preparations ahead of the first visit by U.S. President Donald Trump to Israel and the Palestinian Territories.
While police deployed some 10,000 men and women across Jerusalem to secure the presidential visit starting on Monday (May 22), a flag factory owner in the Israeli city of Kfar Saba reported a hike in sales of American flags.
In the West Bank city of Bethlehem, where Trump will visit on Tuesday (May 23), police was deploying forces and city workers paved a new road along side Israeli separation barrier.
Under political fire at home, Trump sealed a $110 billion arms deal with Saudi Arabia on Saturday (May 20) on his maiden foreign trip as he struggled to shift attention from the aftermath of his firing of the director of the FBI.
Trump's trip has been billed by the White House as a chance to visit places sacred to three of the world's major religions, while giving him time to meet with Arab, Israeli and European leaders. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
