- Story Text: Long queues were seen in Qatari supermarkets on Monday (June 5) as various Arab nations severed relations with the country.
Video and photographs posted to social media and obtained by Reuters showed nearly bare shelves and people in Doha buying large quantities of food and water.
Doha faces a potential acute economic plight as it relies on Gulf neighbours for 80 percent of its food imports.
Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain severed relations with Qatar and also closed their airspace to commercial flights on Monday.
Tightening pressure, Saudi Arabia's aviation authority revoked the license of Qatar Airways and ordered its offices to be closed within 48 hours, a day after the kingdom, the UAE and Bahrain closed their airspace to Qatari commercial flights. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
