- Story Text:Bolivia returned on Sunday (July 9) two Chilean police officers detained in the border area of Ujina.
The officers were arrested on Friday (July 07) when officials chased a suspicious vehicle over the border, the Chilean government reported.
Bolivian President Evo Morales said the decision to return the officers to their home country was made quickly.
The incident comes after Chile detained and released seven Bolivian customs officers and two Bolivian military officers for three months for smuggling offences in the border area.
The case is the latest in a long list of diplomatic incidents between the two countries which are facing office in an international trial over Bolivia's intent to regain sovereign access to the sea by Chilean territory. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
