- Story Text: A double-decker tour bus lost control and flipped over on a narrow road in Lima on Sunday (July 9), killing at least nine people and injuring 57.
Video footage from a private surveillance system showed the dramatic moment when the bus plunged off the road.
Peru's Ministry of Health said in a news release that six Chileans and two Canadians had been injured in the crash. Those injured are being treated at eight separate health facilities around capital Lima.
According to local media reports, the accident happened about two kilometres from Lima's presidential palace. The Green Tours bus - thought to be speeding - was travelling along San Cristobal hill to give passengers a general view of the city.
Bus accidents in Peru are commonplace, with high altitudes and deep ravines covering much of the South American country. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
