- Story Text: The father of a teenager who was killed during a shooting in the compound of the Israeli embassy in Amman demanded more information on Monday (July 24) on the official investigation into his death.
Zakria Jawawdah told Reuters that his 16-year-old son, Mohammad Jawawdah, was not a trouble-maker and had not belonged to any groups or political parties, and demanded to know why the boy had been killed.
Two Jordanians died from wounds inflicted during a shooting on Sunday (July 23) in the compound of the heavily-guarded Israeli embassy that also wounded an Israeli, police and a security source said. Jordanian police said after Sunday's shooting that they sealed off the embassy compound and deployed dozens of anti-terrorism forces.
The fortress-like embassy in the affluent Rabae district of the capital Amman is protected by Jordanian gendarme. It has long been a flashpoint of anti-Israeli protests at times of turmoil in the Palestinian territories. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
