- Story Text: Cara Delevingne attended the London premiere of her new film Valerian on Monday (July 24). The model turned actress told Reuters that she has swapped the catwalk for the big screen saying, "I've sold my house and moved right in and yeah it's feeling good."
She plays Laureline in the sci-fi comic book flick which is directed by Luc Besson. The director said it was no risk casting the relatively new actress in the film.
"It was not a risk because I tested her a lot and you are so lucky in the UK because you have a born star here. She's amazing in the film and I'm so proud of her and I will sign to shoot with her any time" said Besson.
Besson is known for his films Leon and Fifth Element. He said Valerian and Fifth Element are worlds apart, "there's 188 shots of special effects in Fifth Element. There's 2700 in this one, so it's another world."
Set in the 28th century operatives (Dane DeHaan and Delevingne) have to maintain order in human territories in space. When a dark force threatens the city of Alpha they are in a race to identify and stop it.
Dane DeHaan who plays the lead in the film credits Luc Besson for creating female roles in his film that empower women and said, "I know I would be nowhere I am today if it wasn't for my wife you know and I think Valerian is the same - you would be nowhere without Lauraline and so it's awesome to be part of a movie where the quote unquote hero wouldn't be the hero if he didn't have Lauraline by his side."
