And believe in our strengths and try to use them. It doesn't make any sense to talk about Bayern Munich's individual players' quality or the team as a whole. You know them as well as I do. They can play in all facets, they are strong in every position and that makes their defence strong but we have to look for our chances." That we have to prepare, that is what we have done in the last five weeks now the best way we know. We have prepared in the best way. We started in Karlsruhe last week and now it is of course something different but I think we are in the right condition to bring out our courage." Bayer Leverkusen prepared this week for their opening Bundesliga game at the Allianz Arena on Friday (August 18) against title holders Bayern Munich.
Bayern are seeking a sixth consecutive Bundesliga title but will be without a number of first-team players for their opening, among them Jerome Boateng, Javi Martinez and new signing James Rodriguez.
New Bayer coach Heiko Herrlich, fresh from a 3-0 win against Karlsruhe in the DFB Pokal last week, said the Bundesliga champions were dangerous in all facets and that they would need to play with courage against Bayern.
"The question shouldn't be 'Is it bad for you that this is your first game?' but for them 'Shit, they are playing against us'. That we have to prepare, that is what we have done in the last five weeks now the best way we know," he told reporters during a news conference on Thursday (August 17). - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
