- Summary: LONDON, ENGLAND, UNITED KINGDOM (RECENT - OCTOBER 5, 2017) (REUTERS) (SOUNDBITE) (English) ANDY SERKIS, DIRECTOR, ON WHAT THEY DID TO GET THE CHILD ON SET TO LOOK AT GARFIELD, SAYING: "So there is a very, very intimate scene where Andrew, where Robin is just brought home from hospital and he's in his new environment for the first time and then he sees for the first time, he really looks into the eyes of his child. It's a beautiful moment in the film. But in fact, when we were shooting it, this child was screaming his head off. So we had to put an iPhone underneath Andrew's chin with Peppa Pig (children's TV programme) on it, so that when we were shooting on this three-year-old child, it was just really entranced by Peppa Pig but it really looks like he's really entranced with his dad."

A mobile phone playing children's TV programme Peppa Pig helped capture an intimate scene between a father and his young son on set of new romantic drama, "Breathe", Andy Serkis told Reuters.
The debut director who placed the mobile phone under actor Andrew Garfield's chin said the three-year-old actor "looks like he's really entranced with his dad" rather than Peppa, after he needed the child to look in Garfield's eyes.
Garfield plays Robin Cavendish who is paralysed from the neck down by polio whilst living in Africa. Actor Claire Foy plays his wife, Diana, who, against all medical advice, brings Robin home from hospital where her devotion and witty determination transcends his disability.
Foy admitted she felt "quite shameful" that she had not learnt enough about disability access.
"I just suddenly realised that there is a whole group of people that aren't a minority," Foy told Reuters, "that need to be thought about more in society in so, so many ways, practical ways."
Serkis is known for his portrayal of CGI character Gollum in the "Lord of the Rings" films.
"Breathe" is released in UK cinemas on October 27. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
